MedAssist
- Making Medications Available in Polk County
MedAssist is
a department of Thermal Belt Outreach. It provides assistance to qualified
residents
of Polk County and Landrum residents
with a local physician with free or low cost
medications. MedAssist helps individuals get medications by
completing applications from participating pharmaceutical
companies’ patient assistance programs.
Applications
must be signed by the patient’s doctor. Proof of income is required
by the pharmaceutical companies and the companies may set income limits.
Outreach works with social service agencies,
churches, families, physicians
and
pharmacist
to develop solutions for Polk County
residents who have special health care needs
that may not be met by
MedAssist.
Getting started is easy. You may call MedAssist for an initial appointment
at 894-5380. Anyone who is already enrolled in the MedAssist Program may
continue, based on your individual situation. Thermal Belt Outreach will
work with all of its resources to find the best way to meet your needs.
Medicare D Help
Help is available for people nearing
65 who must make a Medicare D plan decision. We can also help
Medicare D clients
who have reached the “donut hole” or those who cannot obtain
their medications through their Medicare D plan.
Call 894-5380 to set up an appointment.
Our team of dedicated, experienced, volunteers confers
with clients and complete applications from participating pharmaceutical
companies’ patient
assistant programs. Each pharmaceutical company has its
own rules for eligibility. Generally, assistance is based on an income
and/or needs-based test.
