Thermal Belt Outreach concentrates on assisting people in crisis situations. Each client is treated with understanding and compassion. Many people, in this time of need, feel alone and without hope, or are embarrassed to reach out for help. The staff and more than 140 volunteers assure them that help is at hand, despite the pressures they face.

We have a space that only you can fill. Your special skill, talent, interest and background are needed here at Thermal Belt Outreach. Volunteers are the heart of our organization. If you are looking for a rewarding opportunity to serve your community, please consider giving an hour or two a month.

Opportunities
Our five main service areas include: reception and financial assistance; food pantry; home repair team; Med-Assist; volunteer transportation.

Food Pantry
You are needed to help physically prepare orders for food assistance. Light work, but heavy “pay”.

Intake
Can you talk with clients, ask questions without seeming “nosey”? Intake volunteers interview potential clients to determine their eligibility for assistance. It’s challenging and satisfying work.

MedAssist
Work with people needing assistance with the high cost of prescription drugs. You’ll be doing paperwork and will need to pay attention to detail. You will enjoy the rewards of helping solve a major problem for many people.

Transport
If you have a good driving record, a willingness to help others, and some time available, Outreach needs you as a driver. Our program provides services to Polk County residents who have no other means of transportation and faced with a crisis or emergency. The majority of requests are for medical appointments.
